On Sunday 10th May 2026 at 12.30, the Grand Opening of the St. Francis Garden of Peace took place.
The garden was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Cllr. Kathy Watkin. The event was blessed by Father David Way and was also attended by Archdeacon Jane Bakker.
As can be seen in the photographs (kindly provided by Sally Walker), many local residents came along to admire the garden and wish it well.
Following the event, a bun struggle – sorry, cream tea – provided by St. Francis Church took place in the church hall. The day was doubly blessed with benign weather throughout the event.
If you’re interested in volunteering at the St. Francis Garden of Peace, please come along to one of the following sessions to help out with watering, weeding; whatever needs to be done.
